About the project

An international Project entitled InteractiveFurniture Portal came into being due to close cooperation between the Mendel University in Brno and the Textile Testing Institute, with the support of the Cluster of Czech Furniture Manufacturers. The project was financially supported by Leonardo da Vinci, the EU Lifelong Learning Programme for 2010-2012.

The project was initiated by the need to develop support tools for lifelong learning in the field, so as to be usable for students, but also their teachers, experts in production, sales as well as furniture design. The project aims to raise awareness among professionals particularly of the utilization of technical regulations and standards in practice and the use correct terminology in international trade relations.

To achieve these objectives, three basic elements have been selected - a glossary of most technical terms of the furniture industry, an overview of technical regulations and an e-learning module - a virtual house that illustrates the application of technical requirements in practice.

All theseelements are placed on the portal www.e-furniture.info, providing visitors with comprehensive information in one place.

Allthe mentioned features are available in five language versions - English, Czech, Bulgarian, German and Slovak, prepared by partner organizations (see the Partners link).

We believe thatthis series will expand into other languages in the future ​​.
